Think About When You Learn
One of the biggest advantages of being a home learning student is being able to choose when you study. Even if you're having to combine your studies with a full-time job or raising a family - you're pretty much free to decide exactly when you learn.
You know best what time of day you are most alert. Are you a 'morning person', or do you only come wide-awake towards the end of the day? It makes sense to schedule your main study periods for when you're most alert. Here's how:
- Schedule a decent block of time - one to two hours, say - that will be fairly free of outside distractions - even if it means you have to get up earlier or stay up later
- Don't miss the chance to fit in a bit of extra study at other times too, even if it's just for 5 or 10 minutes - so always carry some course notes with you
- For instance, you can have a quick look at your notes when you're in a queue, using public transport, or even when you're in the kitchen waiting for the potatoes to boil!
